The pathogenic isolate Antonovo 07/14 (A07) of the African swine fever (ASF) virus and the nature of its reproduction in bone marrow cell cultures that had infection and intact young pigs (YP) were studied. To study the biological properties of IZ, 24 ASF-virus seronegative 2 – 3 month-old pigs were selected, they were divided into 5 groups. The YP of group 1 were inoculated intramuscularly at the dose of 5 HadU/ cm3, the YP of group 2 – by the same method at the dose of 50 HadU/cm3, the YP of group 3 - by the same method at the dose of 5000 HadU/cm3, the YP of group 4 – intranasally at the dose of 50 HadU/cm3, intact YP of group 5 were kept together with infected animals. The YP of group 3 died on the 8 – 9-th day after inoculation, the YP of groups 1 and 2 – on the 9 – 10-th day, the pigs of groups 4 and 5 – on the 12 – 13-th day allowing thereby making a conclusion about homogeneity of the isolate A07 and confirming that the duration of the incubation period and death speed of animals directly depend on the infection dose. On the 28-th day survived YP N 995 (YP995) and 6 intact YP were intramuscularly inoculated with the IZ Gribovo 07/14 (G07) at the dose of 5000 HadU/ 2 cm3, after which it remained healthy, and in the intact YP distinctive clinical signs and the death on the 8-th day after infection were observed. The IZ genome was detected in blood of YP995 from the 4-th till 24-th day, in nasal lavages – on the 12 – 16-th day, in feces – on the 16-th day after its infection with IZ A07. On the 102-nd day of observation in YP995 the IZ ASF virus DNA in high concentration was detected in samples of kidneys, heart, mesenteric and mediastinal lymph nodes, ileocecal valve. The titer of antibodies to IZ ASF increased after 24 days to 1:100 and grew to the level of 1:8000 and 1:3200 after 59 and 102 days, respectively after infecting with IZ A07 and after 31 and 74 days – with IZ G07. When infecting the bone marrow cell culture with YP995 hemadsorption was identified after 36 – 48 h, and the healthy YP – after 24 h, in 5 days after inoculation of the isolate Odintsovo 02/14 the titer was 7,05±0,211 lg HadU50/0,15 cm3 and 5,83±0,13 lg HadU50/0,15 cm3, respectively. It has been concluded that the IZ A07 has virulent properties and propagates in the bone marrow cell culture of intact and convalescent YP. Key words: ASF virus, ELISA, bone marrow cell culture, PCR.
